Backcountry Magazine makes moves: Tyler Cohen now Editor in Chief, Louise Lintilhac joins team

JEFFERSONVILLE, VT.  Following its 20th anniversary season, Backcountry Magazine announces that Tyler Cohen has been promoted to Editor in Chief, and Louise Lintilhac joins the team as Assistant Editor.

Cohen began working with Backcountry as an intern in 2009 and has held many titles during his tenure, including Associate Editor and Managing Editor. “Tyler’s proven he has the chops to run the magazine,” former Editor in Chief and Height of Land Publications President and CEO Adam Howard says. “Along with Lucy (Higgins, Associate Editor) and now Weeze (Louise), he’s part of probably the most experienced editorial team in skiing right now.”

Cohen’s promotion will allow Howard to focus primarily on cutting checks and cleaning toilets. “It’s good that Howie’s getting out of the way,” Cohen says, “because I’ve basically been running the magazine for a couple of years now.” Says Howard, “It’s true.”

In addition to Cohen’s promotion, Backcountry has hired Louise Lintilhac as Assistant Editor. Lintilhac, a native Vermonter, has been a longtime competitor on the Freeskiing World Tour and has filmed with Meathead Films for four seasons, all while working toward a Masters of Science from the University of Vermont. In her new role, Lintilhac will take the lead on backcountrymagazine.com.

“I am looking forward to combining my loves of skiing and Vermont with my background in big-mountain skiing and environmental access issues,” Lintilhac says about her new role at Backcountry. “It’s where so much of my life converges. To be able to dedicate my days to thinking about backcountry skiing and the natural environment with a community of like-minded colleagues is extremely exciting.”
