Working for the Weekend: Presidential Spring

This winter on the East Coast has been bleak. With more rain than snow, it can be hard to stay optimistic about outdoor recreation. Luckily the Northeast is full of diehard optimists who only need a little mental refresher to get them stoked about backcountry skiing again.

The latest episode of Ski The East’s backcountry series Working For The Weekend, “Presidential Spring,” might be that thirst quencher for parched snow enthusiasts. In the episode, Ben Leoni—a lawyer from Portland who spends his two days of freedom from the daily grind skiing with similarly job-afflicted friends—travels to Mt. Washington to ski some technical, less traveled lines on the famous peak.

“Conditions are struggling hard out here in the east. It’s been one of the worst winters I can ever remember,” says Chris James of Ski the East and Meathead Films. “As east coasters, we are consummate optimists and we hope that our media at Ski The East keeps fueling the stoke for eastern skiers and beyond.”

Full disclosure: Assistant Editor Louise Lintilhac and gear tester Carter Snow have some shred time in this video. The East Coast is a small, wintery world where editors and testers moonlight as athletes.
