Kickstarting “Pretty Faces”

“As a young ski racer, I couldn’t find any women I could relate to as role models in the sport,” Lynsey Dyer writes in our January issue (which hits newsstands on January 7). So she sought out women who followed their passion fearlessly, whatever it was. Now Lynsey is one of those role models she could never find in skiing, and she’s bringing together others like her to produce “Pretty Faces,” an all-female ski and adventure-sports film.

They’ve just launched a crowd-sourced Kickstarter.com campaign to fund the film. “We’d like to show girls that they have a place not only in the mountains but in sports in general,” Lynsey says in the video. Check out the fundraising site, here.

: ERIC BLEHM: MEET YOUR HEROES
Eric Blehm’s roots in snowboarding run deep. He started riding during the sport’s infancy, and after college became an editor at Transworld SNOWboarding Magazine. Years later, he was in a lift line when a fellow rider saw the “Craig Kelly is my Co-Pilot” sticker on his board, and asked Blehm: “Who is Craig Kelly?” He was floored by the notion that there were snowboarders out there who didn’t know who Craig was. And this inspired him to write The Darkest White.
