In the words of Doug Coombs, the man, the myth, the legend, “There is no such thing as too much snow.” Coombs skied lifts only in training for the “real thing” and rocked his Croakies headband with vivid yellow Trient jacket (circa ’95) harder than kids these days rock oversized tees. So next time you’re feeling steely, just remember: you’ll never be as cool as Doug Coombs skiing a first descent couloir on a mountain so gnarly the name was withheld “to protect the foolish.”
