2016 Backcountry Basecamp Information




Jeffersonville, VT (for immediate release) – Backcountry Magazine, in association with GORE-TEX and Voilé, is proud to announce that it will return to Smugglers’ Notch Resort the weekend of February 27-28 as part of its annual BASECAMP Tour. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring our event back to our hometown,” says Adam Howard, Backcountry Magazine’s Editorial Director. “The number of people we engaged last year through the added demonstrations was great to see and the atmosphere at the Brewster River Pub on Saturday night was unreal.”

At the Smuggs’ BASECAMP stop, Backcountry Magazine staff will showcase the newest equipment, including skis, skins, splitboards, beacons, shovels, probes and airbag packs, all in a yurt-based setting. On Saturday at 5 p.m., BASECAMP hosts a huge party and huger raffle at the Brewster River Pub and Brewery with proceeds benefitting Vermont Backcountry Alliance, IAN Fund and Cambridge Area Rotary’s Winter Wellness Days.

Jeffersonville, VT (for immediate release) – Backcountry Magazine, in association with GORE-TEX, Scott Sports and Voilé, is proud to announce that it is heading to Solitude Mountain Resort the weekend of January 16-18 for the first time as part of its annual BASECAMP Tour. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring our tour to Solitude this year,” says Tyler Cohen, Editor in Chief of Backcountry Magazine. “We’ve had stops in Jackson Hole, Wyo. and Crested Butte, Colo. before, but this is the first time we’ve expanded to Utah—we think the event will really resonate there.”

At the Solitude BASECAMP stop, Backcountry Magazine staff will showcase the newest equipment, including skis, skins, splitboards, beacons, shovels, probes and airbag packs, all in a yurt-based setting. Also, Scott Sports will be on hand all weekend to show off their technical outerwear. AIARE educators will conduct demos and classes each day, and guides from Utah Mountain Adventures will take visitors on complimentary backcountry tours with an emphasis on safety education. On Saturday at 5 p.m., BASECAMP hosts a huge party and huger raffle at the Last Chance Lodge with proceeds benefitting Wasatch Backcountry Rescue.

Also, Arc’teryx will be on hand all weekend showing off their technical outerwear and packs. AIARE educators will conduct demos and classes each day, and Jackson Hole Guides will take visitors on complimentary backcountry tours with an emphasis on safety education. On Saturday at 5 p.m., BASECAMP hosts a huge party and huger raffle at the Alpenhof Lodge with proceeds benefitting Teton County Search and Rescue.
