It is not every year that we are lucky enough to have incredible snow conditions during our Gear Test Week, held annually at Powder Mountain, Utah. This year, the snow gods must have taken pity on us—having to live through the worst winter the East Coast has seen in a long time—and so presented us with powder that gave way to blue skies.
Powder Mountain is a haven of great snow and few people, providing the perfect testing ground for next year’s snow toys. Throughout the week we were privileged to have professional boot fitter Bob Egeland from Boulder’s Neptune Mountaineering with us to make sure everyone was properly shod and had the snuggest of fits. And Egeland wasn’t alone in supporting over 40 testers who would go on to try over 200 pairs of skis. Techs worked tirelessly in their dugouts, cranking DINs and checking forward pressure as testers filtered through for six hours a day.
A week—and countless powder laps and beers—later, here is a photo recap of last week’s gear, shenanigans and shredding.
