Tester Quick Takes Day Four: Gear Test Week 2018

Gear Test Week 2018 has come to a close, but remnants of the blazing sun at Powder Mountain, Utah still kiss testers’ cheeks. As we start to reminisce, we take a look at two more testers and their picks from the host of skis, boots and bindings for this coming season. Here is their slopeside account of what they enjoy about some of last week’s gear selects.

For the last installment, we catch up with testers Marla “Cookie” Bailey and Matteo Campbell to hear about the Tecnica Zero G Guide Women’s boot and the Soul Handmade Skis Touring 106.

What she said: “The thing I like most about the boot is that it is probably the one-quiver boot if you are seeking a boot for both resort and backcountry use. It has four buckles with a slightly taller cuff height, which is important for me. It’s reasonably lightweight, and the downhill performance is honestly unlike any other on the market. Definitely my pick for the test.”

What he said: “These skis devour the corn. You can get on the front of your boots and load them up. These things get you right into the turn and hold you in the belly of the arc. They have incredible stability.”
