Tested and Reviewed

Mindy Mulliken looks for what she calls “a lighter but substantial-enough ski to get through the crud and provide some confidence for speed on the down.” Powder days are what gets Mindy into the mountains, but she doesn’t mind searching the woods for leftovers, and her tool of choice is a more playful ski that lets her be the driver, not the passenger.

Here is her review of the DPS Wailer 99 Tour 1:

OVERALL SCORE: 9/10
BEST FOR: Lift-Accessed Touring, Straight-Up Touring
BEST SPEED: Fast
RESPONSIVENESS: 9/10
PLAYFULNESS: 6/10
SHORT TURNS: 6/10
MEDIUM TURNS: 9/10
LONG TURNS: 9/10
TURN INITIATION: 9/10
POW PERFORMANCE: 10/10

Comments: “DPS, you have done it again. The Wailer is the ski I would like to walk away with. You ask, they do. This ski is the fountain of youth—they make everything feel easy. Turn initiation is effortless; they are incredibly light; they cut through the chunder and make you feel all-around sexy. I would equate the Wailer to my Subaru, the all-terrain vehicle, a true one-ski quiver. The only compromise is on the wallet.”
