Day 1 of the GORE-TEX Backcountry Basecamp broke under sunny skies as temps around Jackson Hole Mountain Resort rose into the 40s. All day, people streamed throughout the Basecamp village beside the Bridger Center, headed out on OB tours with Jackson Hole Guide Tommy Moe, tuned in to avalanche and safety clinics and checked out demos from Scott Sports, Salomon, Atomic, Coldsmoke Splitboards and Skinny Skis. As the day moved on, snow softened to corn before the evening raffle and après party to benefit Teton County Search and Rescue. Here’s a gallery of highlights from the day.
ABOUT BASECAMP: Backcountry Magazine, in association with GORE-TEX, Patagonia, Marmot and Voilé, is embarking on its third-annual nationwide backcountry skiing and snowboarding tour. This year, Basecamp is teaming up with AIARE to provide the latest in avalanche education at each tour stop.
