TransWorld SNOWboarding partners with Backcountry Magazine for 2016 Splitboard Test

MARCH 23-28, 2015, CRESTED BUTTE, COLORADOBackcountry Magazine is stoked to announce a new partnership with TransWorld SNOWboarding to conduct the 2016 splitboard test. For eight years, Backcountry Magazine and a fleet of riders have traveled to Crested Butte, Colo. for a week of on-snow testing to create the industry’s most detailed and credible splitboard, boot, binding and accessory reviews. This year, Backcountry is teaming up with TransWorld to bring that beta to even more readers.

While TransWorld SNOWboarding’s readership represents the largest concentration of snowboarders ages 18-34, Backcountry Magazine has been covering backcountry riding and splitboarding for more than 20 years. The five-day splitboard test, during which nearly 40 testers will evaluate hardgoods from some two-dozen brands, represents a perfect pairing of both titles.

“More and more of our readers are chasing powder into the backcountry every year and it’s our duty to make sure they have the right gear to get there and back safely,” says Scott Yorko, Associate Editor and Gear Editor at TransWorld SNOWboarding. “If we’re going to advise our readers’ buying decisions, it only makes sense to team up with Backcountry Magazine, who’ve been testing splitboards since their inception.”

“More people than ever are redefining their ideas of snowboarding, and Backcountry is their tool,” adds Board Test Director Adam Broderick. “The partnership between these two pioneering publications on this test is exciting, to say the least.”
