Teton backcountry Alliance releases survey to measure backcountry user conflict on Teton Pass
On Saturday, April 15, The Jackson Hole News and Guide reported that a survey administered by the Teton Backcountry Alliance was released with the goal of gauging the level and type of winter recreational use on Teton Pass. The Jackson Hole News explains that because Teton Pass sees more than 100,000 ski runs a year, user safety and conflict must be managed better to avoid future potential tragedies.

Yesterday, February 26, a skier was caught and killed in an avalanche in the Bridger Range outside Bozeman, Montana.The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center (GNFAC) reports that the victim, who has not yet been identified, was carried around 1,000 feet. At this time, the cause of death is thought to be related to trauma from the fall.
Inbounds avalanche at Swiss resort claims the life of a ski patroller
On Tuesday, February 19 at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana, four skiers were caught in an inbounds avalanche. All who were buried were recovered and transported to a hospital in nearby Sion, Switzerland where a nine-year ski patrol employee of the resort later died of his avalanche-related injuries.

In another wave of accidents following multiple slide-related skier deaths in the Western U.S. earlier this month, two avalanches—one in Salt Lake City, Utah’s Electric Lake region on January 18 and another in Aspen, Colo.’s Castle Creek Valley region on January 21—have claimed the lives of two people.
