The lady testers have spoken, and mid-fat skis are their tool of choice this winter. While not exclusively women’s specific, these skis offered up stability and mobility that impressed the women who took them for a spin.

“Strong, wise, spontaneous, uninhibited. Light core lends to an almost non-existent swing weight; early rise in the tip floats through fresh and defends against mank while the traditional tail finishes turns like a champ.”

—Jaime Krakowiak | Breckenridge, Colo.

“Nice sidewalls and a stiff tail made this a reliable and stable backcountry buddy, but also a solid companion for that person who skis [Dynafit] Vulcans and tech bindings while taking tram laps. They were the smoothest skis I think I have skied. Chunder didn’t exist and pow was surfy and buttery.”

—Tory Hayssen | Jackson, Wyo.
5 ft. 5 in. | 130 lbs.

“As fun on the down as they are on the up. A perfectly executed five-point sidecut. The first touring-oriented ski I’ve been on that rails turns and charges down hardpack without chattering. Crazy quick edge to edge. Pleasantly stable. Not at all squirrelly for such a light ski.”

—Cat Ambrose | Breckenridge, Colo.
5 ft. 9 in. | 150 lbs.

  1. thoroughly thorough says:

While a ski tester bio is important (ie height & weight) also important which is missing are the ski length which was tested. Thanks

    • Tyler Cohen says:

Manufacturers typically provide just one length for our test—occasionally two—so the length that was tested may not be the most appropriate for each tester. That being said, Jaime tested the 186cm Kufo; Tory tested the 183cm Corvus Freebird; Cat tested the 174cm Ullr’s Chariot and Hedda tested the 167cm Envy.
